Past Project Examples
Our HAT/FP thermostatic self-operating freeze protection valve prevents cold water supply lines to docked naval ships from freezing by monitoring ambient or water temperature and automatically opening to bleed off cold water and allow warmer water to back fill. Once the freeze danger passes, the valve modulates closed to conserve water, reduce energy consumption, and overall save money.
We have thousands of installations saving millions of gallons of water per year at naval bases such as Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division at Keyport, Manchester Fuel Depot, Naval Station Everett, Naval Air Station Whidbey Island and Naval Magazine Indian Island.
Our HAT thermostatic scald protection valve prevents the back flow of potentially scalding water from an in-flight coffee maker to an airplane galley faucet. When the water temperature has risen to the valve’s set-point, the valve closes, stopping flow to prevent scalding the flight crew or passengers.
We have thousands of installations protecting personnel in aircraft such as the Airbus 380, Airbus A330, Airbus A350, Boeing B747, Boeing B777 and Boeing KC-46A Tanker.
Fluid Temperature Control
Patriot Missile Launcher Radar Set
Our customized thermostatic diverter valve controls hydraulic fluid temperature on the Patriot Missile Launcher Radar Set. To meet application-specific needs, the override handle can be used to direct the inlet flow to the heat exchanger regardless of the fluid’s temperature.
Our Mixing/Diverting cartridge is used in a 3-way thermal bypass valve to control the hydraulic oil cooling system on the self-propelled Howitzer. The valve monitors inlet fluid temperatures and diverts the flow to the heat exchanger or bypasses it back to the pump to minimize warm up times.
F-16 Fighting Falcon
Our thermostatic thermal bypass cartridge precisely controls the avionics cooling system on F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. The cartridge is integrated into a manifold to monitor the recirculating coolant temperature and directs the fluid to the heat exchanger or bypasses it back to the pump to minimize warm up times, depending on the coolant temperature.
Unmanned Prototype Jet
Our thermostatic actuator technology controls an unmanned jet’s air intake mechanism to maintain engine coolant temperature within a specific range. Custom modifications for this project included a large actuator, 2” piston stroke, and a wide temperature range from 80°F (26.7°C) to 180°F (82.2°C).
Linear Heater Actuator Buoy Release
Our thermostatic actuator technology controls an instrumentation pod buoy release mechanism using a custom designed actuator. An ultrasonic signal from a surface ship activates a heater circuit which warms the printed foil heater and extends our thermal actuator to release the buoy, allowing it to float to the surface for retrieval.
